How to Prepare Clothing Items
  1. CLOTHING - We do not allow the use of tagging guns.  Please ensure all tags on clothing are secured with safety pins only.  The barbs from tagging guns can easily damage clothing, and tags tend to separate from the garment easily.

  2. Clothes must be free of any pilling, stains, holes, excessive wear, foul smells, and must be current styles (within 5 years).

  3. Use wire hangers for all clothing.  Items should be hung on the hangers so the hook looks like a question mark, with the tag pinned on the right-hand side of the garment.

  4. If clothing is not pinned correctly, you will be asked to pin them correctly before you leave drop-off.

  5. When preparing your clothes, make sure they are washed and hung with all buttons buttoned and all zippers zipped. This will give your item a better appearance and have a better chance of selling.

  6. Pants and skirts should be pinned to the top part of the hanger by folding the left and right side of the garment over the wire hanger and then sticking the pin through 4 points of entry. This prevents items from sliding to the bottom of the hanger. Pants folded in half over the hanger will not be accepted.

  7. Secure the clothing with additional safety pins if needed. Two-piece sets should be secured with safety pins to the hanger. Pants and tops sold in sets must be the same size.  When hanging sets, hang the shirt, and then hang the pants behind the shirt, where both are visible for the buyer to check.  If your item has matching accessories, put them in a Ziplock bag and attach it to the hanging item.  Tape the bag to ensure pieces do not get lost.

  8. Separate and size your items by gender and category. This will help to reduce your drop-off time.

  9. SHOES -  Zip-tie or tie together.  Do not put shoes in bags unless there is no way to tie them together. They sell better when buyers can view them.

  10. Books – You must use painter’s tape to secure your tags to books, unless they are in bags.  Any other type of tape will tear the cover of the book when it’s removed.

  11. Odd-Shaped Items – For items that are hard to adhere tags to, it is best to use string to tie the tag to the item.  Do not tape down a tag on a round item.  The scanner cannot read the barcode unless the tag is flat.
